  • I’m interested but what is the next step?
Your first step is to book a free 20 minute introductory call. Please go to the contacts page and get in touch leaving your name, contact details and best time for me to call you. This will enable us to find out what you are struggling with and to look at what you would like to achieve from counselling. More importantly this will give us the opportunity to find out if we are a good fit and can work together. I can answer any questions you may have. At this point you can either decide to book a first appointment straight away or you can take more time to think about it and get back to me when you feel ready.
  • How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on what you have come to counselling for. You may find for example that 6 sessions provides enough support for what you need right now. Alternatively you may feel that having counselling on a longer-term basis offers you the opportunity to explore things in greater depth. There is no right or wrong way – it is very much your choice and what feels right for you and your circumstances. Each session lasts for 60 minutes and is usually held on a weekly basis. Once you decide to go ahead with counselling, your regular counselling time will be yours as long as you wish to attend the sessions.
  • What happens at our first counselling session?
I will send you two forms that you can complete prior to your first session. The first will provide me with information about you such as contact details, some health information and what you hope to achieve from counselling. The second is our counselling agreement. At the beginning of the first session I will check if you have any queries or concerns.
  • Is counselling confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is an essential part of our counselling relationship. All that takes place between us each session is treated with respect and discretion. There are exceptions to this which will be explained in the agreement.
  • Where should I base myself when we have a video-link or telephone session?
As long as you are somewhere that you feel comfortable, safe, can talk freely and undisturbed, it doesn't matter where you are based. It's whatever works for you.
  • Do you offer offer face to face sessions?
Yes! I am based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. You are also welcome to switch between face to face and online sessions if needed.
  • Fees
£100 for a one to one appointment. £85 for online video or telephone appointment.
